The event will celebrate Mystery Under the Mask and will feature a masquerade theme with murder mystery dinner, raffle and a silent auction fundraiser. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Pierre’s Banquets located at 3237 Harlem Ave in Berwyn, Illinois.

The BDC is proud to present Jousef Mondragon with this respected community award to honor his achievements and contributions towards the growth and development of Berwyn’s business community. Each year, the BDC membership selects an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of one of Berwyn’s original developers, Charles E. Piper.

Jousef Mondragon is the Vice President of Global Business Development for the Eaton Corporation, a global and multi-national electrical conglomerate. Jousef has an extensive and diverse executive management background in strategic management and business development. With undergraduate degrees from New Mexico State University in Electrical Engineering and International Business, Jousef began his career as a Technical Sales Engineer with GE Supply, the international distribution arm for the General Electric Company. During his time with GE Supply, Jousef was an integral part of a team that identified, analyzed and developed emerging markets in Asia, North America and South America. Most recently, Jousef received an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which has become an extremely valuable tool in his current role of managing expansion initiatives for global operations. He also provides leadership in the development and oversight of strategic planning whose primary objective is to maximize market efficiencies and revenue optimization.

Born in Albuquerque, NM and raised nearby in the small town of Taos, NM, Jousef moved to Chicago in 1996. He has been involved in Berwyn since 2006 before officially making the move from the Northwest Suburbs in 2010. Seeking to live out his personal values and to have a greater impact on the community, he launched his social and public service in Berwyn with Youth Crossroads in 2006. He currently sits as the Vice President of the Berwyn Development Corporation and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Berwyn Public Library and Youth Crossroads. Additionally, Jousef serves as the President of the University of Illinois MBA Alumni Association for the College of Business and is the liaison to the Board of Regents for the university at large. “Being part of Berwyn and all that it has to offer is very much like my humble beginnings in Taos, NM and best represents most what I grew up with in that families are tightly knit, neighborhoods are very strong, people are very accepting and friends are very loyal.  Truly, I am a fortunate and blessed man to have my life come full circle in the way that it has.”

Mal Montoya, BDC Board President, stated, “Jousef is an excellent example of Berwyn’s citizenry at its finest. Jousef is regularly found working tirelessly for the betterment of our local business community as well as those who proudly call Berwyn home. It is with honor that the Charles E. Piper Award be bestowed to Mr. Mondragon. “
