Wayne’s World Turns 25!

Wayne’s World turns 25 this year! The film not only features the famous Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, but an iconic Berwyn landmark as well—the Spindle. The Spindle was created in 1989 by artist Dustin Shuler and brought to Berwyn’s Cermak Plaza Shopping Center. Years of exposure to tumultuous Chicago weather and bird nesting saw the end of the landmark; the Spindle was taken down in May of 2008.

The Spindle can be seen as Wayne, Garth and friends drive past Cermak Plaza while jamming out to Bohemian Rhapsody (2:35 in the video below). Party on, Berwyn!

*To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wayne’s World, the City of Aurora will host a 6-month long celebration with an array of neat events. Find out more about their list of events here.
