Summertime is our chance to shake off the itch of winter's cabin fever and get out to play. If you're looking for a chilly treat to cool you off, then look no further than Chicago Magazine's "Best of Chicago 2011" recommendations for Italian Ice and take a stroll to Gina's Italian Ice on Roosevelt Road for a refreshing batch of lemon ice (or one of their other fresh flavors of the day). If you're looking for the other type of cold one, Yelp directs you to the best of both worlds with Flamingo's Beer Flavored Ice Cream or you can try one of their other million unique flavors!

Berwyn also has you covered if you're looking for an evening of relaxation with friends and libations. Yelp's Cocktail Guide highlights newcomer Autre Monde Cafe & Spirits for its fresh mix of organic ingredients into classic cocktails such as the gimlet and the well-established Olive or Twist for its 36 unique martini options. It's worth the trip, so check us out!

Autre Monde Cafe & Spirits opens on Roosevelt Road
E-mail

Berwyn might not be the first place that comes to mind when you're thinking about a European-style cafe and wine bar. But that's about to change.

Autre Monde Cafe & Spirits, the newest restaurant on Roosevelt Road, is the brain-child of John & Christine Aranza and chefs Dan Pancake and Beth Partridge. The four met when working for Tony Mantuano, internationally-acclaimed chef / partner at Chicago's Spiaggia restaurant and James Beard Award winner.

The casual trattoria boasts a menu inspired by the Mediterranean flavors of Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Croatia, Greece and Morocco. What's more, the cafe is proud of its farm-to-table sourcing of high quality ingredients, which is complemented by fresh produce grown in their greenhouse out back (18 different tomato varieties!). A varied and affordable wine selection is available with many of the wines sold by the glass. Late kitchen hours are available for Roosevelt Road music lovers on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Read more about the restaurant at Time Out Chicago, Chicago Reader, West Suburban Living, Tasting Table, and Chicago Tribune.
