Once known as the "Bohemian Wall Street" due to the large number of savings and loans located here, Berwyn's Cermak Road is now an eclectic mix of retail, restaurant, medical and office space.  Stretching the entire length of the city from Lombard to Harlem Avenue, its large boulevard and ample storefront parking make running to the post office or bank, popping into the market for a gallon or milk, or the hardware store for supplies, a snap.

Harlem-Cermak Plaza, Berwyn's largest strip mall located on the southeast corner of Harlem & Cermak Roads, is home to several large retailers including Walgreens, Staples, Marshalls, Party City, The Avenue and Fresh Fields.  The recent addition of wind turbines make this mall hard to miss.  Just east of Harlem-Cermak Plaza resides the World's Largest Laundromat, another Berwyn landmark famous near and wide for its customer-oriented service which includes free coffee and donuts daily and free pizza on Wednesday nights, as well as its green operations.

The Berwyn Gateway, a new development on the northeast corner of Harlem & Cermak breaks ground this summer.  Buffalo Wild Wings, the Vitamin Shoppe, and Verizon Wireless have already signed lease agreements.  Negotiations for the remaining three spots are currently underway and should be announced in June 2011.
