Berwyn’s Best Cocktail 2016

The Berwyn Development Corporation’s (BDC) Berwyn’s Best competition began in mid-September and was fixed on finding the best local specialty cocktail. Twenty-six bars with cocktails on their regular menus competed to make it into the Top 5 Cocktail Bars. These five local haunts  identified their favorite specialty cocktail for the second round of voting, and now the vote is in! The winner is the Cucumber Mojito from Lavergne’s Tavern.

Jerry Hernandez reacted to the award, “I am honored to have our ‘Cucumber Mojito’ voted Berwyn’s Best Cocktail. The goal for Lavergne’s cocktail program was to keep it simple — create traditional cocktails familiar with most and put our twist on it. Our ‘Depot Margarita’ is what we feel a true margarita should taste like. The ‘Salty Watermelon’ is a twist on a classic daiquiri. Our ‘Old Fashioned’ is near perfect with rye whisky, demerara sugar, two kinds of bitters and essential oils. We’ve been hard at work behind the bar and cannot wait to share our newest fall cocktails with you. Expect to see some new additions to our list in the coming weeks that will include pumpkin syrups, coffee rum, amaro, tropical cinnamon, black cherries and banana. Cheers!”
